Our Mandate

The broader Society of Citizens especially those with the greatest need, governing bodies of United Nations entities, as well as, member states of the United Nations need evidence-based and comprehensive knowledge on the relevance, effectiveness, impact and sustainaibility of operational activities for development of the United Nations System to improve coherence, support accountability and decision making at a UN system-wide level.

UNISWEM has an independent UN system-wide mandate in terms of enabling UN General Assembly Resolutions to evaluate the relevance, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of operational activities for development of the UN System, and, the extent to which these operational activities for development of the UN System contribute to the realisation of national development priorities including internationally agreed development goals in program countries.  In doing so, we provide evidence and accountability to inform greater UN System wide impact and coherence in developing countries.
