Peter Wandwasi, PhD heads the UNISWEM Secretariat and has actively overseen the development of UNISWEM since its creation in 2014. He was appointed in January 2014 during his tenure at the Joint Inspection Unit of the  UN System in Geneva Switzerland to start up this Independent System-wide Evaluation initiative in terms of delegated powers of UN General Assembly Resolution 67/226 based on which the UN Secretary-General established the Interim Coordination Mechanism (ICM) to fast-track the operationalization of independent system-wide evaluation of operational activities for development of the UN System in developing countries.

Peter has earned academic and professional development qualifications in the evaluation discipline, system thinking, and management of complexity, business strategy and policy formulation from various institutions, including a globally pioneering PhD in Metaevaluation from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Peter served as a member of the Evaluation Panel at the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) before joining the Joint Inspection Unit of the UN System in Geneva Switzerland. He is an expert in Transdisciplinary Evaluation, Metaevaluation,and Research Methodology. Hehas published a prologue paperback book titled “The Case for Enhancing the Quality of Primary Evaluations Through Metaevaluation” from the perspective of Developing Country Contexts.
